Best Posts of the Week: January 28th - February 3rd.
If the AP.net office was anything besides me at a desk, staring at three computer screens at once -- I'm pretty certain we would all be having a beer on this Friday afternoon. I'm positive we'd be having the kind of debates we have weekly over email. I'd pull rank and decide that everyone must listen/dance to Penguin Prison ... and we'd all vote on what makes this week's "posts of the week" list. However, at the moment it's just me and the emails back and forth with the rest of the country. Not as fun ... but I can still put together a posts of the week feature and all that. If you click on the little arrow thingy next to the username, you'll be able to go see the post in the thread it originated in ... context, sometimes, helps. We are considering every band who emails us link to their music in the next 24 hours at unbuckledrecords@yahoo.com. We will consider bands from all over the world. You have 24 hours. Spread the word! So, we get spammed quite a bit ... mods are usually really good about cleaning it up as fast as possible. And that might sound harsh, but it's true. It's not like I thought that's all you were, but definitely somewhat. But something about the way you wrote this list--the bands you mentioned, the albums you mentioned, every single one of them--might be my top 10 list of all time. Switch around the order just a tad, but something about the list you just put together..it made me realize, you're not some guy who started a business. You're a kid who loved music. You're just like me. There aren't too many times that I actually feel something from the internet these days. Maybe it's just that I'm jaded, maybe it's just that society kind of killed the internet for anything that isn't porn, illegal downloads, and memes. But this (along with the DTR post from last week) took me down a road I hadn't been down in a long time. Some of these albums I would tell you were among my favorites of all time, but I hadn't listened to them in years. Maybe I thought I 'grew up', maybe my taste changed. But the second I pressed play and heard the busy tone at the beginning of Tell That Mick, I remembered something. This site isn't made for its joke thread. Its not meant for its entertainment forum or its weekly video game roundup (although great job!). It's meant for kids, like you, like me, to be exactly what we are--kids. Whether you're 13 or 35. It's a place where you can tell someone you sat under the stars and listened to Through Being Cool as if it were the greatest event in the history of mankind, and have people understand what you mean. It's probably just the fact that I've still got a buzz going and The Muppet Movie is a heartstring tugger but, I don't know how often you hear this anymore from just a site regular, instead of on the liner notes of albums, or from the editor of a music blog, or whatever, but thanks man. You're a real inspiration and in the best way, because you're not only just like us, but you are us. We all get chills when the opening chords to Cute Without the E come on and we all simultaneously scream our lungs out when the opening lines hit on You're So Last Summer. I forgot that somewhere along the line. I don't think we'll ever see music the way it was in the early 2000's again. The world has moved on from that. But, here, in this small little island we call ap.net..here, we haven't. And I hope we never do. Loved the sentiment behind this post. Really captured what music means to so many of us. And we should end on that note. Hope everyone has a great weekend! (read full post)

Pantera Lost Track to Surface on Reissue
The 20th anniversary reissue of Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power will feature a previously unreleased song entitled "Piss." A release date has not net been determined. Drummer Vinnie Paul statesThe reissue has a song called Piss, which I had forgotten about it. Some parts of it were taken for other songs, and at the time, it was the only song that did not make the record. In Pantera, we never had songs that didnt make the record. If we were going to write 11 songs, then wed write 11 quality songs. Some bands write 40 songs and then hope they have nine good ones in the bunch. That sucks. Why not concentrate on writing 9 great ones and forget the 31 others? Anyway, this song, at the time, didnt feel right to go on the record, so we put it on the shelf. (read full post)
